A COA Host is a private property owner that is sanctioned, ie. has official permission or approval by COA to receive or entertain COA Campers on their property, and or is a venue providing facilities for COA camping and related activities.
COA Hosts are insured directly with COA's own insurances, which includes $20M Public Liability and provides protection for Hosts in the event a camper brings a claim against a Host due to them being injured or sustaining property damage as a result of a Hosts negligent activities. COA Hosts are also covered with COA's Officials Liability, which provides Hosts indemnity against ‘wrongful acts' committed by ‘Hosts' acting on behalf of camping and related activities held under the auspices of COA.Sanctioning means private property owners join and agree to comply with the requirements of COA, which includes the COA General Activities Code, which is a set of rules that has been prepared to assist COA Hosts to plan, run and manage camping, vehicle and related activities safely, while meeting legal requirements, government standards and health and safety obligations. The Code is applicable to camping, outdoor, automotive and related activities, and sets a standard of practice for all.
In return for sanctioning as a Host with COA, property owners can rest assured that:
- Hosts will be covered with $20M public liability insurance to cover the camping, vehicle and related activities that occur on the property;
- All Campers staying on a Hosts property are also insured and the responsibility of COA;
- Any and all liability for Campers using the property is removed from the Host and placed solely on COA through a simple licence agreement;
- Personal liability is removed from the Host whilst acting on behalf of the camping and related activities held under the auspices of COA;
- All volunteers providing assistance with the organisation and management of activities on a Hosts property will be covered with personal accident insurance.
Relying on the insurance offered by overseas booking platforms or not operating with any insurance at all is of course putting your property and everything you've worked for at great risk!! Only COA can make such assurances that sanctioning with us will provide the protection that you should have to protect Hosts and their assets!
